North Cotswolds Beano
Fri 29th August - Mon 1st September 2025
New VENUE!
Rolling hills and honeyed stone villages in the Cotswolds National Landscape
The Cotswolds – we love it. Quiet lanes, bubbling rivers, rolling green hills, the warm, golden stone of the villages, and the big, big Cotswold sky. We lived here for years and we’re delighted to have the chance to share some of our favourite parts of it with you.
For the first time since 2018 we’re returning to the northern end of the Cotswolds National Landscape, staying at a new venue: a quirky place based around an 18th-century farmhouse and barn, with comfortable converted farm buildings.
This is a weekend Beano, with three nights’ accommodation, starting on Friday evening and finishing after the last ride on Monday afternoon.
Arrive on the Friday late afternoon onwards; there will be tea/coffee and cakes waiting for you, then dinner in the evening.
On Saturday and Sunday we head out for all-day rides on the Cotswold lanes. Along the way there will be stops for coffee and lunch and interesting things to see. Back at base there will be tea and cakes, then a chance to get changed and relax before dinner in the evening.
Monday’s ride will be a little shorter, finishing back at base where there will be tea and cake and the opportunity to shower and change before you head for home.
Our rides take us north along the edge of the Cotswold escarpment, with panoramic views out across the Evesham Vale. We travel east across the gentler countryside and country estates around Moreton-in-Marsh, stopping at the prehistoric Rollright stone circle, where legend says it’s impossible to count the stones and get the same number every time. We journey south into the heart of the Cotswolds, discovering near-forgotten lanes and drovers’ roads, with the option of visiting a Roman villa.

Our base for the weekend is Luckley Farm, an 18th-century farm arranged round a courtyard and with views over an idyllic valley, a few miles from Stow-on-the-Wold near the northern end of the Cotswolds National Landscape. The farmhouse, granary and outbuildings have been converted into comfortable, quirky accommodation. After the day’s ride you can sit out on the patios or in the garden, or enjoy the swimming pool, a games room or the tennis court if you’ve still got energy to use up! The bikes will be stored indoors overnight.

The rides are mainly on-road, with a few short sections on gravelled cyclepaths and easy bridleways. We stick to quiet country lanes as much as possible, though there are a few short sections of busier road to connect the nice bits together. Daily distance for the main route is 30-40 miles, though we always build in optional detours and short cuts so you can make your ride longer or shorter. This being the Cotswolds there are hills involved, though there are also some easier sections – and around here, the hills are always worth it for the views at the top.
As always, we provide you with Andy’s famous route maps, turn-by-turn route directions, route files for your GPS (if you have one), and a morning route talk where we tell you all about the things to look out for during the day. You can cycle at your own pace, in company with others if you like.
Accessibility: Many of the bedrooms at the venue are accessible only by stairs or steps. If you have mobility problems that make stairs difficult for you, be sure to tell us when you book so we can make sure there’s suitable accommodation for you.
